An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA); and is able to treat him/her through defibrillation, that is the application of an electrical therapy which stops the arrhytmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.
